“CAPITAL” is a community theatre project — a collective creation with young people from Penafiel between the ages of 15 and 18, exploring their relationship with money, the economy, and their proximity to the labour market. The workshop culminates in a performance and an encounter with the public, serving as a space for dialogue among and with the youth about the nature of money — as a commodity, object, debt, and concept. It proposes a critical reflection on the economy and private property, seeking to demystify money and to question whether it is merely a means of exchange or a form of social relation. In this sense, it raises a fundamental question in the face of an increasingly monetised world: what remains for those deemed unproductive?
