On March 28, Porto/Post/Doc will take part in “Vero! Connecting Docs”, an initiative integrated into the 19th edition of the Pordenone Docs Fest, in Italy. The event will take place at Sala Modotti, in Cinemazero, and brings together six films selected by international partner festivals, in a context designed to connect recent works with distributors, exhibitors and other industry professionals.
For this edition, Porto/Post/Doc selected “The Town That Drove Away”, by Natalia Pietsch and Grzegorz Piekarski, presented at the festival in 2025. The film was part of Porto/Post/Doc’s programme in the Human Rights in Motion / Special Screenings section, reaffirming the festival’s interest in works that question the present and engage with reality through demanding and politically attentive cinematic forms.
Organised by the Pordenone Docs Fest, “Vero! Connecting Docs” invites national and international festivals to highlight a documentary presented in their most recent editions, creating a visibility platform for films already recognised by critics and the festival circuit, yet still in the process of expanding their circulation. In this edition, the selected titles come from Sarajevo Film Festival, Biografilm, Giornate degli Autori, Festival dei Popoli, Beldocs and Porto/Post/Doc.
Representing Porto/Post/Doc, Sérgio Gomes will present “The Town That Drove Away” at the opening of the segment dedicated to the film. The session will be structured around several moments of presentation and dialogue for each film, bringing together the perspective of the partner festivals, the film teams and the professionals in attendance, with a focus on the visibility, circulation and international trajectory of the works.
Porto/Post/Doc’s presence in this initiative reinforces the work the festival has been developing at the intersection of programming, curatorial mediation and international circulation. This participation also extends the dialogue already established with the Pordenone Docs Fest, visible in the session “Come Closer #03: Docs Without Borders: Cross, Connect, Expand”, presented during the 2025 edition of Porto/Post/Doc and inspired precisely by this model of collaboration between festivals.
