Crépuscule Live A/V Closes Summer School 2025

by Porto/Post/Doc / 30 06 2025

On July 4, at 10:00 PM, Passos Manuel will host the Crépuscule Live A/V performance, an immersive audiovisual show created by sound artist and filmmaker Tujiko Noriko and director and visual artist Joji Koyama. The event, which marks the closing of the 2025 edition of the Porto Summer School on Art & Cinema, is held in partnership with Porto/Post/Doc: Film & Media Festival.

Based on the universe of the acclaimed album Crépuscule I & II, released by Tujiko Noriko in 2023, the performance offers a hypnotic experience in which sound and image interact in real time. Tujiko’s ethereal and electronic compositions, punctuated by a fragile and evocative voice, intertwine with Koyama’s dreamlike and minimalist visual landscapes, in a performance that expands the themes and atmospheres of the album into a scenic and sensorial space.

Tujiko Noriko is a Japanese artist based in Paris, known for her unique approach to experimental electronic pop. Since the early 2000s, she has released music on labels such as Editions Mego, FatCat, and Room40. In addition to music, she has also developed a career in film, having co-directed the feature Kuro (2017) with Joji Koyama, in which she also stars and composed the soundtrack.

Joji Koyama, in turn, is a Japanese-born visual artist and filmmaker based in Berlin. His work spans animation, graphic design, experimental video, and music videos, with collaborations with musicians such as Four Tet and Mogwai. His works have been presented at international festivals and institutions including Slamdance, ICA London, and the Centre Pompidou.

Premiered at the Semibreve Festival, the Crépuscule Live A/V show marks a new phase in the collaboration between the two artists, blending music, cinema, and performance in a proposal that crosses disciplinary boundaries and offers a sensorial experience of great poetic intensity.
