Albert Serra’s latest film, Afternoons of Solitude, was released commercially in Portuguese cinemas on 29 May 2025. This provocative documentary, which follows Peruvian bullfighter Andrés Roca Rey, had its world premiere at the San Sebastián International Film Festival in 2024, where it was awarded the Golden Shell.
The Portuguese premiere took place during the International Competition of Porto/Post/Doc 2024, in a screening held on 24 November at Batalha Centro de Cinema. The director was present and took part in a conversation with the audience following the screening, offering a moment of direct exchange between creator and spectators.
Afternoons of Solitude is currently showing in several cinemas across Portugal, including Cinema Trindade (Porto), Cinema Medeia Nimas (Lisbon), UCI El Corte Inglés, Cinema Fernando Lopes, and Casa do Cinema de Coimbra.
