Peter Fischli (1952) and David Weiss (1947-2012) met in the late 1970s in Zurich's punk circle, starting an artistic partnership that developed over thirty years. From this encounter and continuity, it started one of the most important legacies of the art of our time. Known for their sense of humor and curiosity, they defined themselves as encyclopedists of the visible and everyday world, a world revealed in extensive series of sculpture, photography and installation. In their works we often find narrative as an artistic process and seemingly simple ideas taken to formal extremes: Suddenly This Overview (1981), Flowers, Mushrooms, Airports (1987-2006) Visible World (1987-2000). With an extensive list of exhibitions stand out the representation of Switzerland at the Venice Biennale (1995), and the retrospectives organized by Tate Modern (2006/2007) and Guggenheim (2016).

In April, Há Filmes na Baixa! presents the complete filmography of the iconic pair of artists. The film The Way Things Go (1987), one of the artists' seminal works (premiered at Kassel's Documenta and disseminated since then) will be presented in a free session at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto (April 5, 18:00). The first two films, The Point of Least Resistance (1981) and The Right Way (1983), which include the famous Rat and Bear that wander in philosophical considerations, have never had public presentation in Portugal and will be presented in a single session in Cinema Passos Manuel (April 5, 10:00 p.m.).
