Reaching the 4th edition, SACO – Semana del Audiovisual Contemporáneo de Oviedo invites Porto/Post/Doc to present a carte blanch within the program of the festival. The festival, with more than 65 films programmed, takes place from March 16 to 25, in Asturias.
"Tarrafal", by Pedro Neves, is the choice of Porto/Post/Doc. The documental feature film, that portraits the history of the bidonville S. João de Deus, in Porto, premiered worldwide in the 2016 edition of the Portuguese festival. The director will be present in the unique session, scheduled for March 22, at 6:00 p.m., at Teatro Filarmónica. Besides presenting the session, Pedro Neves will join a talk after the screening with Sérgio Gomes (Porto/Post/Doc's director) and Pablo de María (SACO's director). On Saturday, March 24, the Portuguese director will also join an encounter with producers.
The two festivals have been establishing a link between them in order to promote both Portuguese and Asturian cinema. In 2017, SACO was invited to join Porto/Post/Doc's program, within the section Cinefiesta. "El nome de los árboles", by Ramón Lluís Bande, was the chosen one for this carte blanche.
Dedicated to independent cinema, SACO 2018 will screen 19 full-lenght films and 46 short-films in this edition, that will be marked by some new features such as an experimental section. SACO is organized by Fundación Municipal de Cultura de Oviedo and will be held at Campoamor and Filarmónica theaters, Edificio Histórico de la Universidad, Museo de Bellas Artes, Ridea, Escuela Municipal de Música, Colegio de Abogados, Fábrica de Armas de la Vega and Parking El Carbonero.
