Portuguese Panorama II: Há Filmes na Baixa! November Cycle

by Porto/Post/Doc / 03 11 2017

Há Filmes na Baixa! presents its penultimate cycle of the year. In November, we presented a cycle about very recent Portuguese films, in a second Portuguese Panorama. Throughout the two days, three films will be screened that have been in important international festivals. The first session will be dedicated to António and Catarina, by Cristina Hanes and All I Imagine, by Leonor Noivo. On the second day, we will screen Day 32 by André Valentim Almeida, another documentary film of great success, which had its international premiere in the recent Jihlava Film Festival.

On the first day, we present two films that are two intimate portraits. António and Catarina had its world premiere at the Locarno Festival, winning Golden Leopard for Best International Short Film. The film is an amazing encounter between the director and a much older man and the relationship they establish between the two. It is fraternal portrait between two very different people. All I Imagine is also a portrait, but of a new generation, made by the director Leonor Noivo in the neighbourhood of Alcoitão. This is a contradictory portrait of a youth in search of his own identity. On the second day, André Valentim de Almeida presents us a film, Day 32, in which he transports us to his world through a very personal essay.

In 2017, we will continue to propose cinema cycles, at the monthly rate, providing hypotheses for the discovery of less known cinematographies or films that deserve new visibility. These cycles, which will have a thematic coherence, will extend the activity of Porto/Post/Doc, the festival that takes place at the end of November.
