Working Class Heroes

Public Presentation - 24 Nov

Porto/Post/Doc presents the "Working Class Heroes" project, in partnership with Filmaporto - Film Commission and CaixaForum+ of Fundación “la Caixa” with the collaboration of BPI, looking to support film production about the city of Porto, based on the stories of those who have built it over time.

This grant of €75,000 will be implemented by inviting filmmakers with a line of work that corresponds with the philosophy of Porto/Post/Doc. This grant is an invitation to listen to the anti-heroes who have made Porto a city where the multiple faces of the working class are reflected. The project aims, on the one hand, to promote the production of new films and, on the other, for these films to create a set of films that bring the voices of different filmmakers closer to the local territory and our community.

In each edition of Porto/Post/Doc, three filmmakers are invited to pitch to an international jury and the selected project will be produced during a two-year residency. The final film (of any genre) will have its world premiere at Porto/Post/Doc.

The project's public presentation will occur on November 24th, 18h00, at Cinema Batalha - High Life Bar.

Since this grant is cumulative with other national or international funds, this can be an opportunity for filmmakers, producers, and other industry agents to meet.
