Legendary photographer and director Robert Frank's latest feature, Candy Mountain, is co-written by writer and screenwriter Rudy Wurlitzer. After publishing the famous photobook The Americans, Frank left photography and went into film, getting closer to the Beat generation (he worked with Kerouac and Ginsberg) and the rock movement (he accompanied the Rolling Stones). Candy Mountain is, in part, a tribute to these two creative axes of the 1960s: a highly autobiographical musical road movie starring a musician who crosses the USA in search of a mythical guitar maker. Along the way he will meet Tom Waits, David Johansen (New York Dolls), Joe Strummer (Clash), among others.

Candy Mountain premiered at the 1987 Locarno festival and was awarded the Silver Shell at the San Sebastián festival that same year.
