Carte Blanche Teresa Vieira 2022

A programme that results from an active - and inexhaustible - exercise of an attempt of cultural approach through the contact created (or expanded) by the filmic matter. Here we navigate through different geographies of the gaze, with unique gestures that touch on both the individual and universal spheres. In their diversity of aesthetic, formal and thematic approaches, as well as of socio-political contexts, these films set the tone for a joint reflection on the space of possibilities of the documentary short film format'. - Teresa Vieira

The short film is the format used par excellence within the Portuguese academic environment - for various reasons, the most glaring being the financial and calendar limitations (there are some exceptions). However, the most consumed format both by students and in general is the feature film, and the short format is almost exclusively exhibited only in the context of festivals or film showcases.

Besides the exhibition of a programme of four short films selected by the critic and film programmer Teresa Vieira, a moment of debate will be promoted around the particularities of the short film, and its pertinence within cinemas and, above all, within classrooms. Round table with the participation of Teresa Vieira, the teacher and researcher Paulo Cunha, the programmer and director of BEAST - IFF Radu Sticlea and the researcher and programmer Cátia Rodrigues.
