Released at the turn from silent cinema to sound, Maria do Mar is perhaps the most beautiful silent film in Portuguese cinema. Celebrating its 90th anniversary, this masterpiece by Leitão de Barros is once again available to be seen in a new 4K digital copy, restored by the Cinemateca Portuguesa. The screening will be a cinema-concert with a live, original score by Bernardo Sassetti, interpreted by the Lisbon Orquestra Sinfonietta and the piano of Pedro Burmester, under the musical direction of Vasco Pearce de Azevedo.
