The Malian documentary filmmaker Ousmane Samassekou settled in the city of Gao to portray those who arrive, stay and depart from the "House of Migrants" – a waystation on the border of the Sahel desert. Some pass through there, hopeful, on their way to Europe. Others come back, downcast, not knowing if they still have a place to return to. The women confide in each other, while the men watch wrestling on television. A film that emanates humanism, which is felt, also, in the filmmaker's gaze.
