Continuing in the style of his other archival documentaries (most recently, State Funeral), Sergei Loznitsa once again questions the history of the 20th century from within its images. In Babi Yar. Context, the director reconstructs the events that led to the 1941 massacre of the Jewish population of Kiev in the nearby ravine of Babi Yar in Nazi-occupied Ukraine. There are no images left of this horror. This is a film about that terrible absence.
