Even showing a specific era (the '90s) and a concrete fight (against the AIDS epidemic), nothing in the 120 Battements Par Minute movement compels us to view it as a period film. The work is, on the contrary, a proof of the life of the cinema, of its involvement with who makes it and who sees it, its filmmakers, its characters, its spectators, always together as a group. Not only touching her pain and her life but making us feel that we are committed to her, taking us out of our solitude, into the cinema, to live again as a collective (and at a time when we will know, perhaps, how to be politicians).
