Ana Delgado Martins (1981) is a Portuguese broadcaster, screenwriter and director, graduated from the University of Texas, who was instrumental in starting her activity as a filmmaker. She made two short films: Volta (2010) and Encadeados (2011), both awarded. Of arms and luggage is a documentary that depicts the flight of 300,000 Portuguese from Angola between 1974 and 1976, following the civil war that broke out in that former Portuguese colony. More than 100,000 of these “refugees” have been in Angola for three or more generations. In a record of close proximity to the interviewees, the director documents a dozen stories of people who had to leave the country in a rush and conditioned to be able to carry with them practically no luggage, no material memory.
