Bouchra Khalili (1975) is a Franco-Moroccan artist who works in the field of visual arts and film. In his work, he adopts an interventionist position and his area of privileged reflection is the Mediterranean and the questions of the nationalisms and the migrations. Garden Conversation is a film based on a story told of a meeting in Cairo, specifically at the Moroccan Embassy in January 1959 between Che Guevara (1928-1967) and the Moroccan independence leader Abdelkrim Al Khattabi (1882-1963). From the concept of Walter Benjamin's history, the director puts into dialogue two young Arabs imagining what kind of dialogue Che Guevara and Al Khattabi would have 55 years after the legendary encounter.
