According to the Islamic republic of Iran, Anoosh and Arash play “satanic” music. Anything which is not traditional Persian music or classical piano is considered illegal, and, in their case, it is House Music. In her first feature length film, filmed between september 2013 and august 2014, Susanne Regina Meures tells us the trajectory of two friends who, tired of living under their parents’ censorship, are anxious to live their youth and realize their dreams: playing in raves, record and release an album…. even for those who don’t like House Music, Raving Iran is a film which allows us to reflect on the importance of pursuing artistic freedom, and freedom of expression. Which is, after all, that which makes us fundamentally free. (Sérgio Gomes)
