PORTUGUESE PREMIERE
In Thailand, mostly a Buddhist and ritualistic country, there is still the tradition of playing the Royal Anthem before various ceremonies, namely in film screenings. In “The Anthem”, an ode to the power of music and the power of film, Apichatpong presents us with two small stories, formally and thematically opposed, reinterpreting the customs of his country and therefore creating a new cinematic purification ceremony.
