Education Programme

All year round!

Since 2016, Porto/Post/Doc Cultural Association has developed School Trip, an annual educational programme aimed at schools in Porto and Greater Porto, covering all levels from pre-school to secondary education. At the same time, it promotes strategies to include families and young audiences in the festival’s screenings.

In a context marked by an accelerated visual culture, exacerbated by lockdown periods that further distanced audiences from cinemas and festivals, our mission is focused on creating and strengthening a connection between younger generations and cinema as a cultural experience. We aim to democratise access to cinema, ensuring that children and young people have opportunities to develop visual literacy, critical thinking, and communication and civic skills through creative workshops.

The strong engagement from schools in the region allows us to maintain a continuous and collaborative relationship with students, teachers, artists, filmmakers, and other cultural agents. This ongoing dialogue promotes the sharing of good practices and diverse perspectives, which is reflected in the creative workshops we develop. Each workshop pays special attention to the relationship young people have with urban space, encouraging them to creatively explore their daily experiences in cities, towns, and neighbourhoods. School Trip goes beyond merely promoting cinema, establishing itself as a sustainable and collective path for valuing film language as both an artistic and social tool, with a significant impact on the cultural and human development of participants.

The activities developed within the scope of the programme include a wide range of creative workshops, training sessions, and strategic partnerships that structure and support its educational impact:

· Cinema Notebooks (Pre-School),
· Short Words (1st Cycle of Basic Education),
· Correspondences (2nd and 3rd Cycles / Secondary),
· Traditions in Transition (3rd Cycle),
· Steps in the City (2nd and 3rd Cycles / Secondary),
· Creatures of Light: Experimental Film Workshop (Secondary Education),
· Short-Term Training Action for Education Professionals,
· Docs4Teens.

Alongside an extended network of tutors and institutional partners that enhance the quality and reach of the project.
