PORTO/POST/DOC 2025: SUBMISSIONS OPEN

Submissions are now open for the 12th edition of Porto/Post/Doc: Film & Media Festival, which will take place from 20 to 29 November 2025 in the heart of Porto. The festival celebrates "cinema of the real", promoting innovative works that explore the boundaries between documentary and fiction, offering a rich and diverse program that connects filmmakers, audiences, and industry professionals.

COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS

The festival features several competitions that celebrate diverse styles and cinematic approaches:

International Competition: Focused on feature-length films (over 60 minutes) that challenge the boundaries of documentary and fiction cinema.
International Medium-Length & Short Film Competition: Dedicated to medium-length films (31–60 minutes) and short films (up to 30 minutes), highlighting the narrative power of more compact formats.
Cinema Falado: Exclusive to films in Portuguese or exploring Lusophone cultures, reflecting the richness and diversity of the Portuguese-speaking world.
Cinema Novo: A space for young Portuguese talents, showcasing works by film students or Portuguese filmmakers studying abroad.
Transmission: A program dedicated to films that explore music, sound, and pop culture, blending visual and auditory art.
Youth Jury Prize: A special selection of films addressing relevant themes for younger audiences, judged by a jury of university students from the Porto region.

NON-COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS

In addition to the competitions, Porto/Post/Doc offers a rich non-competitive program to enhance the festival experience:

School Trip: Educational screenings and interactive activities designed especially for school groups, combining entertainment and learning.
Docs4Teens: A European initiative in partnership with festivals such as Krakow Film Festival, Festival dei Popoli, FIPADOC, and Docudays UA, showcasing engaging documentaries for teenagers, accompanied by workshops and filmmaker Q&A sessions.
Immersive Dome Cinema: Held at the Porto Planetarium, this program offers an immersive cinematic experience.
Retrospectives & Focus on Filmmakers: Tributes to iconic filmmakers and thematic explorations highlighting significant cinematic movements.
Special Screenings: High-profile films, gala sessions, and international premieres that enrich the festival's program.

SUBMISSION DEADLINES

Early Deadline: 31 January 2025
Regular Deadline: 30 April 2025
Extended Deadline: 31 July 2025

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Films completed after 1 January 2024.
Non-English films must include English subtitles.
