Porto/Post/Doc

Cultural Association

Founded on March 26, 2014, Porto/Post/Doc – Cultural Association emerged in response to the desire to revitalise cinema in the city of Porto, aiming to bring diverse audiences back to theatres and stimulate new cinematic production. Over the years, the association has established itself through the Porto/Post/Doc: Film & Media Festival, becoming a national and international reference for the exhibition of contemporary cinema, particularly in the field of documentary.

The Festival, held annually in November, presents a carefully curated selection of competitions and thematic programmes, retrospective sections, children’s and youth cinema, spaces for debate and networking events, offering a comprehensive and participatory experience for audiences and professionals alike.

In parallel, Porto/Post/Doc develops Industry Activities focused on the training and promotion of professionals in the film sector, including labs, co-production meetings, industry-focused screenings and training initiatives. These activities aim to foster international collaboration, support new projects and strengthen the global circulation of emerging productions.

The commitment to audience development is embodied in the Education Programme, aimed at schools in the region and covering students from pre-school to secondary education. This programme offers creative workshops, moderated screenings, and training sessions for teachers, promoting visual literacy, critical thinking, and active citizenship among young people.

With these three pillars – festival, industry and education – Porto/Post/Doc affirms itself as a dynamic space committed to film culture, articulating initiatives that reinforce cinema as a tool for reflection, social transformation, and the construction of community identity.
